Garnet & Gold Musical Theatre Society is excited to present The Little Mermaid as our 2025–2026 production. Chosen collectively by our members, this musical offers a rich opportunity to explore storytelling through music, movement, and theatrical design while celebrating collaboration across all areas of production.
The Little Mermaid follows Ariel, a curious and determined young mermaid who dreams of life beyond the sea. Drawn to the human world, she navigates longing, sacrifice, and transformation in her pursuit of independence and self-expression. The story balances moments of wonder and joy with deeper questions about identity, belonging, and the courage required to claim one’s own voice. With its sweeping score and imaginative characters, the musical creates a world that is both playful and emotionally resonant.
At the centre of the story is Ariel, portrayed by Chloe Smith, a third-year Drama student, who brings both curiosity and emotional depth to the role. She is joined by George Clancy, a second-year Music student, whose portrayal of Eric adds sincerity and warmth. Together, they help ground the production, supported by an ensemble that fills the stage with energy and helps bring the world of the story to life.
This production reflects months of collaboration across performance, music, choreography, design, technical theatre, stage management, and production support. Presented in Convocation Hall at Mount Allison University, The Little Mermaid showcases the creativity, dedication, and collective effort at the core of Garnet & Gold. We are proud to share the result of this work and look forward to welcoming audiences to our 2025–2026 production.
